Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian recently visited RSS Kerala headquarters, Madhava Nivas, at Kaloor, Kochi and held discussions with senior Sangh leaders. He paid floral tributes and garlanded the statue of RSS founder Dr KB Hedgewar.
Later, he held discussions with senior pracharaks. He was received by RSS Prant Pracharak Sudarshan, Gopalakrishnan and others.
In an interview to a private channel, the minister said he has closely associated himself with the Sangh for almost five decades since Emergency in 1975-77. A product of JP Movement, he was one of the senior-most leaders of the BJP ever since its inception.
Addressing a press meet in Delhi, George Kurian said the BJP has registered a sudden and steady growth in Kerala. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his development initiatives have played a major role in the growth of the party. He also praised the workers whose dedicated efforts despite several challenges made it possible for the party to open an account in the state. “BJP’s 20% votes plus Suresh Gopi’s goodness and popularity helped party bag the Thrissur seat. Earlier the talk was about BJP’s votes shifting to other fronts; this time around the leaders of both the fronts were fretting over their vote shifting towards the BJP,” he added.
