The investigation into the untimely demise of Muhammed Shafeeq (46), a resident of Delhi, has taken a new turn as the police team assigned to the case suspects suicide. Shafeeq was found hanging in a hotel room in Kadavanthra, Kochi, on Friday. The incident occurred shortly after his son, Mohammed Monis, was summoned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning in relation to the Kozhikode train arson case.
Hailing from Shaheen Bagh, Delhi, Shafeeq had arrived in Kochi to support his son during the NIA investigation. However, the tragic turn of events has left the police and authorities questioning the circumstances surrounding his death. Initially, foul play was suspected, prompting the deployment of police personnel outside the hotel room where the incident took place.
On Sunday, the investigation team thoroughly examined the hotel room, seeking clues that could shed light on the events leading to Shafeeq’s death. Accompanying them was a doctor from Alappuzha Medical College, who conducted the post-mortem examination.
