Question that immediately crops up in anyones mind is why Karna was selected for glorification by L-L Johnnies and not Duryodhana or Duhshasana. That’s because Karna was adopted and brought up by a charioteer, then mentioned as Suta-Putra in Mahabharata while Duryodhana and Duhshasana were Ksatriya princes born and brought up with golden spoons in their mouths. Exceedingly venomous in disposition and villainous in conduct, it was Karna along with Duhshasana who prompted Vasudeva Shri Krshna to declare, a family/society that allows a women being disrobed in an open theatre, deserve to be completely wiped out. And those who witnessed it in that royal assembly without uttering a word of condemnation what to speak of lifting arms to defend her honour, too were slaughtered in the battlefield and they amply well deserved it.
Let us now catalogue all omissions and commissions of Karna, a Surya-Putra by an aberration condemned to being Suta-Putra by his destiny.
It’s a wrong narrative that Karna was declined education by Guru Drona due to his humble lineage in the Gurukula established by him at the instance of Bhishma to educate Kuru princes. Several other princes viz. Vrshni, Andhaka of Yadava Vansha in addition to Radhanandana Karna were very much taught at the Gurukula.
Arjuna was a profoundly talented and a cultured pupil of Guru Drona which naturally attracted Gurus extra-ordinary attention on him. That turned Karna excessively jealous of Arjuna, used to deride Pandava-s on their roots in cahoots with Duryodhana in the Gurukula while Pandava-s never offended Karna though they could have comfortably by calling Karna a Suta-Putra. (Ref. MB 9,10, 11,12 of Chapter 131 Sambhava Parva and Adi Parva).
After conclusion of entire learning, a royal event was organised for Kuru-princes to display their warfare skills, expertise and prowess. A distorted narrative goes around that Karna was disallowed because he was a Suta-Putra while in reality, he was allowed to participate in that event wherein even Drone-Putra Ashvatthama didn’t in spite of the event being restricted for princes only. Karna demanded to specifically combat Arjuna which was rightly declined though Arjuna was prepared for it as the event was called for display of their skills and not for actual combats. He did exhibit his skills along side all other princes. (Ref. MB 6, 7, 19-22, 23-26 Sambhava Parva and Adi Parva)
When Guru Drona demanded Kampilya King Drupada be captured and presented before him as a measure of Guru-Dakshina, all Kaurava princes along with Karna invaded Kampilya. They were incredibly defeated, returned profoundly humiliated while Karna fled the scene of battle like a coward. It was thereafter fructified by Pandava-s and Drupada was produced before Drona.
He was a Machiavellian conspirator actively involved in crafting Varnavat episode to burn alive Kunti, all Pandava-s and Draupadi. (Ref. MB Jatu Parva and Adi Parva)
Draupadi was well within her privileges to reject Karna in her Svayamvara and that’s precisely what Svayamvara is all about. Karna had absolutely no locus standii to retain grudges in his mind owing to the rejection yet he did. After the ceremony concluded in favour of Arjuna, Karna attacked Arjuna along with other jealous Kings only to kill him. Acutely humiliated after being conclusively defeated by Arjuna, he folded his palms before Arjuna and asked whether Arjuna was Guru Parashurama himself or incarnation of Vishnu !! (Ref. MB Svayamvara Parva and Adi Parva)
His deep-rooted grudge against Draupadi manifested as the raucous laughter when she was being disrobed in the royal assembly right in presence of a motley crowd of elders, rather living corpses indeed. It was Karna who declared Draupadi a whore, asked Duhshasana to strip her and rudely snubbed Vikarna who had strongly protested. (Ref. MB Dyuta Parva and Sabha Parva)
When Pandava-s completed 12 years in jungles as per terms mandated, it was Karna who proposed to Shakuni to organise Dyuta again to pack them off to jungles for another 12 years. Not only Karna was inclined to go to jungles with all his royal regalia to embarrass and humiliate Draupadi but also attack them to kill. (Ref. MB Aranya Parva)
When Gandharva Chitraratha captured Duryodhana in jungles, Karna did his good escape from the scene of attrition and reckoning. So much so about his friendship with Duryodhana !! (Ref. MB Ghoshana Parva and Vana Parva)
In the battle of Virata, Karna was vanquished twice by Arjuna and forced to flee from the battle-ground. In the battle of Mahabharata, Karna was defeated by Bhima four times, once by Abhimanyu and three times by Arjuna. (Ref. MB Drona Parva and Karna Parva)
Karna has been gloriously projected as ‘Daana-veer’ all over. Just one instance would be enough to bare his real character naked before all. The Kavach-Kundala that he donated to Indra when asked for, was in fact a barter deal for an insurmountable weapon to kill Arjuna. He eloquently revealed his venomous angst against Arjuna to Indra to justify his demand of the weapon.

Dharma-Yuddha has always been a constant battle confronting Adharma in various modalities.
