Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has once again targeted the state government over recent controversies surrounding leaders of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), emphasizing the practice of granting privileges based on party membership rather than qualifications.
In an interview with Mathrubhumi News, Governor Khan expressed his concern regarding the prevailing situation, stating, “If you want to be appointed in the university, become a member of the party. If you want admission without qualification in a PhD program, you become a member of the students’ wing.”
He further criticized the alleged influence that party affiliation has in Kerala, claiming that individuals associated with a youth organization affiliated with a political party are entitled to special privileges and rights. According to him, this has led to the granting of admissions and appointments without the necessary qualifications, causing unrest in the state.
Governor Khan asserted that appropriate action would be taken if such practices are brought to the attention of the authorities. He also raised questions regarding the delay in the arrest of K Vidya, who stands accused of forging an experience certificate to secure guest lecturer positions in colleges across Kerala. Vidya had been associated with the SFI during her time at Maharaja’s and Kalady University.
