The transfer order of Akhila S Nair, a conductor at Vaikom depot, who protested against the non-payment of salary by wearing a badge, has been revoked. This comes after Indus Scrolls News reported the issue and brought it to the attention of the National Commission for Women.
The transfer order had been cancelled, but Minister Antony Raju stated that the contents of the badge displayed by Akhila were against the facts. He had previously stated that the action against Akhila was not a matter that the government was aware of and that what had happened would be investigated.
Akhila had been protesting against the non-payment of salaries by wearing a badge displaying the 41st day of unpaid service. In response, the management had claimed that Akhila’s action was a defamation of the government and the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
The minister clarified that the transfer of the woman conductor may have been done at a lower level or otherwise, and that there had been protests even before the non-payment of salaries. He also claimed that he did not know about the protest of the unions on the transfer.
