In a shocking turn of events, a young girl who was about to marry her Hindu boyfriend in Thiruvananthapuram was forcefully taken away by a police team just moments before they could tie the thali in a temple. The dramatic scene played out in front of the Kovalam police station, leaving the couple and their families devastated.
The girl, identified as Alfia from Kayamkulam, and her boyfriend, Akhil from KS Road, Kovalam, had been deeply in love. On Friday, Alfia made the courageous decision to be with Akhil and traveled to Kovalam. In a meeting facilitated by the Kovalam Police Station Sub-Inspector and the ward member, both families agreed to let Alfia go with Akhil, granting them permission to marry at the Sri Madan Tampuran temple in Malavila Panamoot on KS Road, Kovalam, on Sunday at 5 pm.
However, just moments before the auspicious ceremony, a police team from Kayamkulam abruptly arrived at the temple and forcefully took Alfia, along with her relatives who had gathered for the love marriage. Despite Alfia’s pleas to go with her beloved, the police insisted on taking her to Kayamkulam.
The incident was captured on video, revealing the use of force by the Kayamkulam police. In the footage, Alfia can be seen screaming in distress as she is forcefully separated from her partner. The police claimed that Alfia’s case was registered as a missing person, asserting that she had reached the age of majority. They stated that she would be produced in court, where she can express her preference for her living arrangements.
