Meet Sajjad Rehman, the real-life college boyfriend of Shalini Unnikrishnan, the character of Adah Sharma in the movie “The Kerala Story.” While the real-life Shalini Unnikrishnan is languishing in a jail in Afghanistan, Sajjad Rehman is running a successful restaurant in Kerala.
Many Hindus must be munching beef parotta in his restaurant and calling “The Kerala Story” fake. In the movie, Sajjad’s character is portrayed as Rameez, who impregnates Shalini and then leaves her. Shalini is later married to an ISIS terrorist from Kerala by a local cleric.
The real name of Shalini Unnikrishnan is Nimisha Sambat, hailing from Attingal, Kerala. She had converted to Islam and changed her name to Fathima. She was later arrested in 2016 along with her husband, Bexin Vincent alias Eesa, while trying to leave the country to join ISIS.
Sajjad Rehman, on the other hand, had distanced himself from Shalini after she converted to Islam and married someone else. He had even filed a police complaint against her for threatening him with a false rape case. However, he has denied any connection with the movie “The Kerala Story” and said that he has nothing to do with Shalini or Nimisha’s case.
