So much bickerings and brouhaha have been going on after one learned SC Justice spoke language of street-urchins, “We will rip you apart”. Not only the remark is highly condemnable and communal but also discriminatory, biased and outright outlandish. The question that instantly hit my cerebrum was, “Is it a fine example of Judicial-terrorism ?”
Svami Ramdeva has done an extra-ordinary task of propagating Yoga and Ayurveda along with exposing tentacles of the ‘Deep state’ comprising of pharma/arms/drugs lobbies to every door-step in the country. His relentless campaigns have rattled those lobbies out of their wits, so much so that they are unable to figure out as to how it all happened before their eyes and how to neutralise all that.
His extra-ordinary achievements apart, Patanjali/Ramdeva have certainly transgressed limits of propriety, offered an opportunity on a platter to enemies of Sanatana heritage only to invite the trouble for themselves. I shall underscore those fallacies in the form of bullet points –
Ayurveda believes and practises holistic life-style and holistic treatment of diseases with considerable emphasis on prevention than cure. Is Ayurveda capable of dealing with emergencies like cerebral haemorrhage/heart-attacks requiring immediate surgery ? Can Ayurveda completely reverse age-related prostate growth to rule out surgical removal ? Can hypertension be completely rooted out irreversibly ? Will Svami Ramdeva answer such questions in yes or no ?
He rejects allopathy in his discourses outright which is absolutely wrong, unethical and undesirable. Allopathy too saves lives, a reality that no one can deny otherwise allopathy would have disappeared long ago.
Ayurveda is our traditional heritage based on Samhita-s. Now that times have changed completely, those therapeutic details must be tested again in laboratories following elaborate protocols and research findings, published in reputed medical journals after peer reviews. How many such trials have been conducted by them, where are results and detailed data before proclaiming 100% successful cure ? Where are those research papers, peer reviews to re-establish what all is detailed in Charak and Sushruta Samhita-s ? Those details are certainly not available on Patanjalis websites at all.
On TV channels, limited number of people stand up to confirm, they were completely cured of so and so disease after Patanjalis treatment. It is never disclosed, how many could not be cured completely or how many only partially. Those claims elicit the impression of 100% fool-proof cure albeit without scientific studies and field trials. Such infirmities will certainly invite enemies of Sanatana Dharma to challenge our ancient knowledge assets.
Same appears to be the case of Coronil tablets. Coronil appeared when the pandemic was at its peak and declared 100% successful almost immediately. How is that possible without extensive trials on a large number of patients or that it is more effective than even vaccines developed in the country ? Has it been proved that where vaccines failed, Coronil tablets succeeded in curing the disease ? Where was the clinical commitment that those tablets are harmless for vital organs in long-term effects ?
Widely advertising ayurvedic medicines with claims of 100% cure is entirely unethical and prohibited by law. Ayurvedic medicines are certainly not Bournvita or Horlicks that can be advertised unhesitatingly without being frowned at. In spite of warnings from various quarters, Patanjali/Ramdeva had arrogantly ignored all that and continued with unethical advertising. Those repeated and serial offences have now culminated into petitions by vested lobbies and abusive strictures by Supreme Court.
One more ayurvedic institution based in Kerala in the name of Arya Vaidya Shala, Kottakkal have been very active in the country, older than Patanjali by several decades. They are pioneers in ayurvedic cures, have multiple branches in the country. Will Svami Ramdeva show the country even a single advertisement of Kottakkal medicines in spite of their enviable track-record ? Will he learn those lessons from Kottakkal ?
Ramdeva talks too much in spite of being a Sannyasi. Talking too much inevitably leads to talking undesirables and senseless things. That’s precisely what has happened with him and he refuses to amend himself.
For these unfortunate developments, blame goes to Patanjali/Ramdeva and not to Ayurveda. They have no other option but to battle it out in courts now.
