In a shocking incident, a middle-aged man was beaten to death in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. The man died after he was thrashed by a mob allegedly for theft at Perunguzhi in Chirayinkeezh. The deceased has been identified as Thulasi alias Chandran (50) of Vengode.
The incident happened on May 28. Some people thrashed him after tying him for allegedly stealing some brass utensils from a house in Perunguzhi following which he was taken into police custody. According to police, he was brought to the station in a weak condition.
The police later took him to taluk hospital and he was subjected for a medical examination. Chandran was released on bail conditions after the complainants withdrew the case. He then went straight to his sister’s house in Vengode where he developed uneasiness and was taken to a nearby primary health centre.
He was later admitted to the medical college hospital, however, doctors couldn’t save his life. According to doctors, his internal organs were damaged due to injuries. The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem. His body is kept in the medical college mortuary.
