PK Sasi, a former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM], has faced disciplinary action from the party. Sasi, who has been entangled in various controversies, including allegations of sexual harassment, has been demoted by the party.
As a result of the disciplinary action, the CPM has decided to remove Sasi from the Palakkad district secretariat and downgrade his position to the district committee. Another party member, VK Chandran, has also faced demotion from the Secretariat to the District Committee. Reports suggest that four out of the 21 members in the area committee have provided evidence against Sasi regarding the allegations.
Currently, Sasi serves as the chairman of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). The party has acknowledged the complaint against him regarding the diversion of party funds and plans to address it separately.
The decision to take disciplinary action against Sasi was made during a meeting attended by CPM State Secretary M V Govindan. In addition to Sasi’s demotion, four individuals have been removed from the Kollangode Area Committee due to sectarianism, while five others have been reinstated.
To investigate the allegations against Sasi, the CPM has assigned the task to Puthalath Dinesan, a member of the state secretariat. The party aims to thoroughly examine the accusations and take appropriate measures based on the findings of the investigation.
