The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its efforts to locate the three absconding accused in the murder case of Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru. Yesterday, the NIA conducted raids at three locations in Karnataka as part of its ongoing investigation.
The searches were carried out at the residences of Abdul Nazir and Abdul Rehman in Kotak district, as well as Naushad’s house in Dakshina Kannada district. During the operation, the NIA seized several electronic items from the premises of the three individuals. It is believed that the absconding suspects may be hiding in different locations in Tamil Nadu.
The incident dates back to July 26 of the previous year when Praveen Nettaru, a prominent leader of the Yuva Morcha in Sullya, was brutally murdered in broad daylight by members of the banned terrorist organization Popular Front. Among a group of four targeted individuals, Praveen was singled out and attacked while returning from a shop. In light of the severity of the case, the investigation was subsequently handed over to the NIA.
The NIA has already filed a charge sheet against 20 individuals involved in the incident. The accused have been charged under various sections, including 120B (conspiracy), 153A (fostering enmity between two groups), 302 (murder), and sections 16, 18, and 20 of the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).
