New Delhi: Showcasing its rich textile heritage, the Andhra Pradesh Government inaugurated its pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025, one of India’s most prestigious textile exhibitions, held in the national capital today. The Honourable Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, officially unveiled the pavilion in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, accompanied by Smt. Rekha Rani, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, Shri Kalisetti Appalanaidu, Member of Parliament, and Vishwa M, CEO of AP MSME Development Corporation.
The Andhra Pradesh pavilion stands as a testament to the state’s vibrant handloom tradition, featuring an exquisite collection of textiles, including Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Dharmavaram, Uppada, and Kalamkari weaves. This initiative aims to provide a global platform for local artisans while highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s significant contributions to India’s textile sector.
Speaking at the event, Shri Giriraj Singh underscored the importance of revitalizing the handloom industry and fostering sustainable textile development, stating, “Andhra Pradesh is home to some of the finest handloom traditions in the country. This pavilion not only reflects the craftsmanship of our weavers but also aligns with the government’s commitment to strengthening the handloom sector through innovation and global outreach.”
Smt. Rekha Rani reinforced the state’s dedication to supporting weavers, emphasizing, “Through Bharat Tex, we aim to provide a platform for Andhra Pradesh’s artisans to connect with national and international markets, ensuring their growth and sustainability.”
Shri Kalisetti Appalanaidu highlighted the crucial role of handlooms in employment generation, stating, “Handlooms are not just a tradition but also a source of livelihood for thousands of families. This exhibition will help expand their market reach and bring well-deserved recognition to our weavers.”
The Andhra Pradesh pavilion will be open throughout Bharat Tex 2025, offering visitors an immersive experience of the state’s handloom legacy, live demonstrations by skilled artisans, and opportunities to purchase authentic handmade textiles.
