In yet another case of love jihad from Kerala, a native of Mannarkkad of Palakkad district was arrested. The accused was caught while he was trying to flee with a 17-year-old girl from Naduvannur.
According to police reports, the accused met the girl through social media. The accused revealed that the duo were in love for three years. The police have charged a POCSO case against Shamsuddeen.
The duo were caught while trying to elope. Suspicious locals stopped them at the bus stand and reported them to the police who then arrested the accused.
The local court has remanded the accused.
A number of cases of love jihad have been reported from Kerala in which the Muslim population is heading towards the majority. Islamists are targeting both Hindu and Christian girls and converting them to Islam.
A number of young girls were later sent to countries like Syria to be used as Jihadees.
