Kerala Kalamandalam vice-chancellor T K Narayanan failed to follow Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s direction to inform about the termination of PRO posts in Kalamandalam. Vice-Chancellor Narayanan did not appear before the court today saying that it would be contempt of court to appear in person as a plea has been filed in the high court in the PRO case. He has written to the governor clarifying the matter.
Gopikrishnan, who was a PRO, was suspended earlier. The governor also the chancellor demanded that the suspension be lifted. However, the vice-chancellor was not ready for this decision to terminate the post of PRO in Kalamandalam itself.
Vice-chancellor submitted a letter to the government informing about this. With this, the Governor asked the vice-chancellor to appear in person. The vice-chancellor had earlier filed a case against the governor in the high court. The case was withdrawn after the government intervened to soften the controversy.
