In a surprising development, K Sudhakaran, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, has hinted at his willingness to step down from his position. This announcement comes in the wake of his recent arrest in a high-profile financial fraud case involving conman Monson Mavunkal.
Speaking to the media, Sudhakaran expressed his concern about any actions that may tarnish the reputation of the Congress party. He stated, “I will not stand against anything that vilifies the Congress party. I am considering resigning from my role as KPCC president, and ongoing discussions within the party will determine the final decision. I maintain my innocence and have faith in the judiciary of our country.”
Sudhakaran’s statement has received support from V D Satheeshan, the opposition leader, who assured that the Congress party workers would stand as a united front to protect Sudhakaran. Satheeshan strongly criticized the government, alleging corruption and suggesting that without judicial intervention, Sudhakaran would have been imprisoned.
He emphasized the unwavering support of thousands of Congress workers, stating, “Sudhakaran is not alone. Thousands of Congress workers will shield him. We will not allow him to leave his position as KPCC president.”
