In a major move, the Kerala government has reserved Rs 10 cr for further studies of students who were evacuated from war-torn Ukraine. This was announced by Finance Minister KN Balagopal during the annual budget on Friday.
A total of 3123 students who were stranded in Ukraine were taken to Kerala through NORKA. They were taken to the state in 15 chartered flights.
The government said that it will help the students who lost certificates and other documents to get it back. The finance minister also promised help for the Ukraine returnees to continue their studies.
“Intervention of central government is necessary to make arrangements for further studies of these students. NORKA will open a special cell for coordinating these activities,” the minister said.
