Indian Railways has put forth an action plan to streamline various development projects in a time bound manner and ascertain new avenues, giving fresh hopes to the state.
One of the major proposals in the action plan is to facelift three railway stations with airport-like amenities like shopping area, cafeteria, waiting room, multi-storied vehicle parking facility, Wi-Fi. Ernakulam Town (also known as Ernakulam North), Ernakulam Junction (also known as Ernakulam South), Kollam are the stations which will undergo airport-like facelifts.
The development comes at a time when the Kerala government has been accusing the union government of disregarding the state’s railway line-related issues. Incidentally, this also comes when the ambitious semi high-speed railway project—SilverLine – is pending approval from the Railway Board.
