International journalist and Wall Street Journal columnist Sadanand Dhume has called on the Congress to follow the example of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI-P), a national party in Indonesia.
Dhume pointed out that the PDI-P was a family-dominated party like the Congress in India, and that the party returned to its former glory in 2014 by bringing Joko Widodo to the helm of the party.
He pointed out that Megawati Sukarnoputri stepped aside and left Joko Widodo in charge of the party after realizing that he is better at politics.
In Indonesia, Jokowi took over PDI-P, the Sukarno family party. Megawati Sukarnoputri recognized that Jokowi was better at politics and effectively stepped aside. This is something for the Nehru-Gandhis to consider. If you keep driving a car into a ditch, let someone else drive. https://t.co/1F3z2X1jMw

The journo said that the national leadership of Congress should consider the same. “If you keep driving a car into a ditch, let someone else drive”, he tweeted.
