Eknath Shinde was the Minister of Urban Development and Public Works in the Government of Maharashtra since 2019.
Eknath Shinde was born on February 9, 1964, in Satara District, Maharashtra as the son of Shrikant Shinde and Late Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde.
He quit his school education and started driving an autorickshaw to earn a livelihood for his family
It was when he was doing odd jobs in his career, he came into the contact with Bal Thackeray who assisted him to join Shivsena.
In 2014, as a minister, he resumed his studies and earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Marathi and Politics.
In 1985, he participated in the Maharashtra-Karnataka Border agitation and was detained in Bellary jail for over 40 days.
In 1997, he contested the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) elections as a Corporate and won the elections.
On 2 June 2000, he visited Satara where he lost his 11-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter in a boat accident.
On June 30, 2022, he was elected as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to replace Uddhav Thackery
In 2013, he was arrested for a Hindu-Muslim conflict at Durgadi Fort along with with177 leaders.
In December 2019, Eknath Shinde was appointed as the Minister of Public Works in the BJP-led government in Maharashtra.
