In a significant development, Kerala police recovered eight country-made bombs during a search operation in the Kannavam-Thodeekalam region of Kannur. The bombs, hidden under a culvert, were found concealed in a sack. Following the recovery, a bomb disposal squad diffused the explosives, averting a potential threat.
The search operation was carried out as part of intensified security measures ahead of the scheduled visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on Monday. The recovery of the bombs underscores the importance of rigorous security surveillance during high-profile visits.
Vice President Dhankar is slated to arrive at Kannur airport at 1:05 PM, where he will commence his visit. One of the key highlights of his itinerary is a visit to his former teacher, Rathna Nair, at her residence in Champad, Panoor. The retired teacher had imparted knowledge to the Vice President during his time at Sainik School, Chittorgarh. Following this, Dhankar will proceed to the esteemed Ezhimala Naval Academy, where he will engage with the cadets. This notable visit marks the first instance of any Vice-President gracing the Ezhimala Naval Academy with his presence.
To ensure the smooth and secure execution of Vice President Dhankar’s visit, a contingent of approximately 1,300 police personnel has been deployed across various strategic locations. Enhanced security measures have been implemented in key regions, including Mattanur, Koothuparamba, Panoor, and Kathiroor.
