In a bizarre incident, a show cause notice has been issued to a deceased higher secondary teacher in Kerala for allegedly failing to participate in the evaluation of the higher secondary examination. The notice was sent to VV Ranjini Kumari, a Hindi teacher at Govt. HSS, Paravanadukkam, Kasaragod. The Higher Secondary Examination Section of the Public Education Department dispatched a memo in her name, despite her passing away due to COVID-19 last year.
Ranjini Kumari, who had dedicated her career to educating students, sadly succumbed to the virus during treatment in August. However, the notice was sent to her seven months after her demise, raising questions about the efficiency and accuracy of the examination department’s administrative procedures.
Additionally, show cause notices were also dispatched to junior English teachers who were dismissed from their positions due to job losses before the evaluation began. These teachers were terminated on March 31, and a subsequent circular exempted them from participating in the evaluation work. However, the examination department itself has now sent them notices for their alleged failure to take part in the evaluation process. The list of recipients includes teachers who retired in March and those currently working in other institutions on deputation.
