A global media conclave aimed at pushing the secessionist agenda of Islamists, Maoists and other anti-India forces, which is being held in Kochi, became a flop show, with only Leftists, Islamist and Maoist sympathizers turning up for the event. The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, who inaugurated the event refused to mention the name of the conclave. Instead he used ‘Global South’ conclave. The inauguration of the event was postponed as the Chief Minister could not attend the event on March 24 as scheduled. He joined the event online.
Initially, there were reports that even the Chief Minister would give a miss to the event, as there were adverse intelligence inputs about the organizers’ links and their source of funding. Under pressure from Leftist media outfits, the Chief Minister agreed to participate, according to sources.
Much to the chagrin of organizers, Governor of Goa Adv Sreedharan Pillai issued a press release distancing himself from the event. His name prominently figured in the brochure issued by the organizers. “It is noted that one organization namely ‘Cutting South’ not known to the Hon’ble Governor, is organizing a function for the celebration/felicitation of some important persons at Cochin on March 25, 2023. Neither the Raj Bhavan mnot Hon’ble Governor has given consent for the participation in the programme. It is, therefore, informed that such an organization is strange to Hon’ble Governor and hence, in no way connected with His Excellency,” stated the office of Goa Governor in a press release.
Some invitees to the event also reacted angrily to the organizers for using their names. “I don’t want my name to be dragged into the controversy. We were not aware of their agenda. We cannot be part of any divisive agenda,” said a journalist who doesn’t want to reveal his identity.
Meanwhile, an senior intelligence official who spoke to Indus Scrolls correspondent said, “the timing of the event is suspect. There is a pattern in this. In Punjab, secessionists created a scene ahead of an event connected to G20. It’s serious,” he said. It must be mentioned here that in a literature festival held sometime ago, ‘separate Kerala from the rest of India’ was a recurring theme.
The recent crackdown on Popular Front of India has helped intelligence agencies unravel a ‘sympathetic ecosystem’ within the state. The center is also seized of the activities of the anti-national elements in the state.
