Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President, K Surendran, strongly criticized the recent actions taken by the Kerala Police against Asianet reporter Akhila Nandakumar, who reported on the incident involving the State Secretary of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) passing an exam without writing it. Surendran expressed his concerns, stating that the current developments in Kerala are exemplifying the saying “chains go crazy.” He condemned the police’s decision, viewing it as an infringement on media freedom and accused them of becoming a tool of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM].
Surendran further asserted that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is adopting a fascist approach, aimed at suppressing dissenting voices against the government and the CPM. He criticized the increasing encroachment on media freedom, emphasizing that such actions go against the democratic principles of the state. The BJP State President made it clear that the BJP would not tolerate the CPM’s belief that they can act with impunity in Kerala.
In light of these developments, Surendran called upon all democratic believers to stand against the anti-democratic acts of the Left government, which he believes are bringing shame to the state. He urged individuals to come forward and defend the values of democracy, freedom of the press, and the right to raise voices against the government’s actions.
