There has been an alarming rise in the number of attacks on Sabarimala pilgrims and temples by the Abrahamic and the Left-secular brigade in Kerala. While Marxists and Secularists bend over backwards to accommodate the practices and patriarchal traditions which run counter to gender equality of Islam and Christianity, they put up a brave front and attack Hinduism which is liberal and benevolent.
The memory of large-scale violence unleashed by the state police and Marxist cadre on Ayyappa devotees is afresh in the minds of people. A huge electoral setback forced the recalcitrant Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, to change his policy towards Sabarimala. However, his anti-Hindu, pro-Islamist policy continues unabated.
It has also come to the notice that in several parts of the state, pilgrims from other states have been facing hostile reception from people mainly from Islamists. Several such incidents go unreported, as pilgrims are not keen to take it up with the police. The police attitude has also not been very encouraging. Also there were incidents where shopkeepers and traders were found fleecing pilgrims. As the Sabarimala season commences, several non-vegetarian restaurants put up ‘only vegetarian’ hoardings to hoodwink gullible pilgrims.
Sabarimala pilgrims attacked
A group of Islamists, including women wearing hijabs and burqas, allegedly assaulted, threatened, and pushed Ayyappa Swamy Sabarimala pilgrims returning to Andhra Pradesh on 17 December 2022. While the Ayyappa pilgrims had confirmed non-AC reservation sleeper tickets, the aggressors had regular unreserved tickets.

The Islamists remained in place even after a lady Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) showed up. She was unable to solve the problem. Before being allowed to lie down on their designated berths, the Hindu pilgrims had to wait for at least seven to eight hours. Some bullies later posted videos of the incident online and accused the Hindu devotees of mistreatment.
Around 10 pm on 4 January, Sabarimala pilgrims were attacked at Alappuzha. Vishnu, his daughter, and other relatives returning to Malappuram had stopped near a hotel for dinner. The young girl, Aleena, and another youngster Vrindavana in the group leaned on a motorcycle parked outside and took some photos. This infuriated a young man (allegedly the bike’s owner), who confronted the youngsters, verbally abused the young children, and shoved them to the ground.
He then stabbed Aleena in the hands with a key, thereby injuring both girls. The attacker returned with an axe when the elders confronted him and shattered the pilgrims’ car window. Even though the assailant was a local TV reality show star, Alappuzha South police apprehended him only after two days.
A pilgrimage to the Sabarimala Temple is the subject of the Hindu devotional film Malikappuram, which has angered extreme Islamists and green communist Keralites around the world. C Praglesh, the regional editor of the Communist Party of India (CPI) newspaper Janayugam and the Ponnani Area Secretary of the CPI, took the brunt for applauding the film on his Facebook post.
Bhagwan Rajan, a Ponnani tea shop owner and supporter of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), responded to Praglesh’s post by criticizing it. Things quickly got out of hand, and Praglesh’s business was attacked at night. Allegedly, CPM goons indulged in arson and destroyed the equipment kept in Praglesh’s shop. Islamists and Hindus In Name Only (HINO) communists continue cyberbullying on social media.
Apart from the violence, Kerala non-Hindus openly discriminate against Sabarimala devotees. A roadside teashop in Kollam turned away Ayyappa worshippers traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Sabarimala on foot. They are not welcome in the shop, said the non-Hindu owner. Several such instances of atrocities have been reported from all over the state.

Lop-sided verdict
Hindu temples are not gathering places for worship like churches or mosques. Some of the most significant and often frequented temples are small, with only enough room for dozens of visitors to stand close to the murti before they must move on. Well-known temples are energy centers, which gives them significance. It doesn’t matter whether one “believes” in this; individuals without faith should have little interest in entering a temple.
Therefore, limits on women are not necessary because of some “anti-woman” mentality that needs to be eliminated but instead because of specific energetic characteristics connected to a temple. In truth, Hindu traditions highly value women and the feminine concept. Contrary to Christianity or Islam, Hindu customs honor girls when their menstruation first starts.
Similar to the legend surrounding Bhagwan Ayyappa, the Brahmachari god of Sabarimala, the ceremonies there enrich Hindu traditions in a way no other temple can. Following a petition filed by the Delhi-based Indian Young Lawyer’s association and its president Naushad Ahmed Khan, the Supreme Court intervened in 2018.
Is spirituality a man’s domain? Are women unable to develop their spirituality, the court questioned? The court had to decide whether to support a right to destroy or worship. They infamously chose to uphold the destruction of Hindu rituals and traditions.
Abrahamics and the ruling communists took it as an opportunity and sent unscrupulous women activists to Sabarimala. Hindu ladies opposed the move, and the rest is history. That did not stop the state from abandoning its sinister activities to destroy Sabarimala Temple.
State-sponsored apathy
The Sabarimala sanctum sanctorum opened for this season at 4 am on 17 November. According to a manual published by the Kerala Home Department for police officers stationed at the Sabarimala hill temple, “all pilgrims are granted admission” following the 2018 Supreme Court ruling. This directive to the police officers ensured that the communist regime was willing to disregard the long-standing custom at the shrine to the Naishtika Brahmachari form of Sri Ayyappa and permit women between the ages of 10 and 50 to enter Sabarimala.
Suspiciously, the directive was listed as item number one on the first page of a home department instruction manual given to police personnel at Sannidhanam and Pamba. A seven-member SC constitution panel is re-examining the Sabarimala women’s admission Judgment. The administration reluctantly canceled the evil plan after Hindu leaders threatened a repetition of the protests from 2018.
This year, the customary Kanana Patha (forest path) was closed, forcing Hindu pilgrims to concentrate on the Pamba route. Devotees of Ayyappaswami must wait 10 to 12 hours to see Bhagwan. Traffic in the Pampa and Nilakkal areas was extremely congested as a result. Marxists collaborated with the vile Abrahamics and suppressed lakhs of Hindu worshippers by imposing stifling laws.
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) charges high ticket fares (35% extra fare) on its Sabarimala-bound buses. It is alleged that KSRTC is looting Sabarimala passengers who board its unique services to and from Pamba. Incidentally, this is the same KSRTC that arranges free air-conditioned buses for highly subsidized Haj pilgrims.
According to a test analysis, the cardamom used to make the renowned ‘Aravana Payasam’ sold to Ayyappa worshippers had pesticide residues. The Kerala High Court ordered the test at an analytical laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram. The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) is accused of buying cardamom locally rather than calling for open bids. The TDB had previously invited three tenders but rejected them to facilitate corruption.
Hindus have long asked the central government to either free their temples or take control of the Sabarimala temple. Hindu indifference is to blame for this problem. If the government had used the same strategies in their places of worship, Abrahamics would have readily chosen violence.
