A person undergoing treatment has died after being injured in police firing during a clash between two factions on the occasion of Ram Navami celebrations in Maharashtra’s Sambhaji Nagar district (Aurangabad). The incident has sparked violence in several other states, including Bihar, Bengal, Gujarat, and Delhi, leaving 22 people injured.
The clash occurred in the Kiradpura Ram Temple area of Aurangabad, where 12 people, including 10 policemen, were injured. Ten police vehicles were set on fire and destroyed by the assailants, while ten private vehicles were also damaged. Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case.
A similar clash took place in the Aheri region, but the situation was brought under control quickly with the deployment of a CRPF team. In Malvani, Malad, Mumbai, 21 people have been arrested in connection with the Ram Navami clash, and a case has been registered against 300 people.
The incident in Malvani occurred when a procession was passing through the area, and some people demanded that the volume of the loudspeakers be lowered, leading to a confrontation.
While Ram Navami is celebrated by Hindus across the country, incidents of violence and clashes have become increasingly common in recent years, with different factions using the occasion to assert their dominance.
