A fuel pump used to supply petrol to police vehicles at the Thiruvananthapuram SAP camp has been temporarily closed due to a severe financial crisis. The pump was closed after the police failed to make payments amounting to Rs. 30 lakhs.
With the closure of the petrol pump, the supply of fuel to the police vehicles has been impacted, creating a crisis situation. To address the situation, DGP Anilkanth has issued an order asking for an alternative way to supply fuel to the police vehicles.
As per the DGP’s circular, all police stations must now rely on private pumps to fill fuel for their vehicles. However, this decision has been criticized as it may lead to corruption. The circular further stated that each police station should fill fuel from the pump nearest to them, and the head of the station should make arrangements for the same.
The financial crisis faced by the police has raised concerns about the management of funds in the force. It is not the first time that such a crisis has arisen, and it points to the need for better financial management and accountability within the police force.
