Actor Dileep has approached the Supreme Court requesting not to grant more time to complete the trial in the actress attack case here on Sunday. In his counter-affidavit filed before the SC, he also requested to cancel further probe into the case.
Earlier, the government sought more time for completing trial of the case. The actor who is accused in the 2017 actress attack case raised the requests in the counter affidavit submitted against the government’s petition.
Dileep also requested the apex court to speed up the trial of the case. The Supreme Court is expected to consider the government’s plea on Monday. It is reported that only the hearing of the investigation officer is pending in the trial. Dileep alleged that the government moved the petition before the SC as the investigation officer wants to skip the trial.
The government requested the Supreme Court to extend the trial of the case for 6 months by considering the latest developments in the case after director Balachandrakumar levelled fresh allegations against Dileep. The trial was scheduled to conclude by February 16.
Earlier, the government approached the High Court requesting to replace the trial court judge. But the High Court rejected this plea. Citing these matters, Dileep in his affidavit noted that the government requested to extend the trial for replacing the trial court judge.
The trial court judge should request the apex court for extending the trial. But so far, the judge didn’t raise such a demand, noted Dileep in his affidavit. He also questioned director Balachandrakumar’s revelations against him.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi will appear for Dileep in the Supreme Court.
