Hinduism is a religion that is deeply rooted in nature and its elements. The belief that all living beings are interconnected and interdependent is an integral part of Hinduism. This connection is reflected in the various rituals and practices that are performed to honor and respect nature.

The recent incident of Arikomban, the notorious elephant, being welcomed with a Gajaraja Pooja at the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala is a classic example of how Hinduism respects nature. The elephant was not seen as a mere animal, but as a guest who had come to their place.

In Hinduism, all living beings are believed to be manifestations of the divine. Therefore, they are treated with the utmost respect and reverence. This belief is evident in the various rituals and practices that are performed to honor animals, trees, and other natural elements.

The Gajaraja Pooja is a ritual that is performed to honor elephants, who are considered to be one of the most revered animals in Hinduism. It involves offering prayers, fruits, and flowers to the elephant, seeking blessings, and wishing it a healthy and prosperous life.

The pooja offered to Arikomban at the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is not an isolated incident. It is a reflection of the deep-rooted belief in Hinduism that all living beings, including animals, are sacred and should be treated with respect and dignity.

Hinduism also teaches the concept of Ahimsa, which means non-violence. This principle is not only applied to human beings but also extends to all living beings. Hindus believe in the sanctity of life, and therefore, they do not believe in harming any living being.

In conclusion, the incident of Arikomban being welcomed with a Gajaraja Pooja at the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a testament to the fact that Hinduism respects and honors nature in all its forms. The religion teaches us to live in harmony with nature and treat all living beings with respect and dignity. \

It is also a beautiful reminder of the interconnectedness of all life on this planet and our responsibility to protect and preserve it.
