A woman journalist filed a complaint against a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader who accompanied terror accused Abdul Nazar Madani to Kochi. The unnamed journalist filed a complaint with the police after constantly receiving sexually suggestive messages through WhatsApp. The complaint is against PDP State General Secretary Nisar Mather. PDP is a radical Islamist political outfit headed by Madani.
Screenshots of messages sent by Mather have also surfaced. In the complaint, the journalist alleged that Mather has been harassing her day in and day out. Nisar was tasked by the PDP to inform the media about the health condition of Madani, who came to Kerala on bail.
The female journalist initially called Mather to enquire about Madani’s health. Mather then approached the media reporter with sexually suggestive messages. Mather tried to groom the lady by reportedly praising her hair and appearance and even offered money indirectly. This happened two days after Madani arrived in Kerala.
She soon realized that he was becoming a bother after receiving lewd messages. The journalist cautioned Mather but her attempts were ignored by this PDP topman. Mather’s attitude forced the victim to seek police assistance. PDP is an old ally of the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM) and is close to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and several other top communist leaders.
Madani reached Kerala on Monday. The alleged criminal conspirator is out on bail in the Bangalore blast case. He came to Kerala to meet his ailing father after seeking relaxation in the bail conditions. Madani is continuing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi claiming his health condition has worsened after arriving in Kerala.
Though Kerala police have registered a case against Mather there are allegations that powerful forces are trying to protect him.
In Kerala, radical Islamists gave Madani a hero’s welcome in front of several top police officers. Madani is the chairman of the PDP and the main accused in the 1998 Coimbatore Blast Case and the 2008 Bangalore Serial Blast. The Coimbatore blasts resulted in injuries to over 200 unarmed civilians and the killing of 58 innocent individuals. The PDP leader arrived in Kochi escorted by Bengaluru police.
On 18 April, our Supreme Court relaxed the bail conditions for Madani to allow him to stay in Kerala till 8 July 2023. Justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela Trivedi’s divisional bench stated that this was due to Madani’s ‘health issues.’ As a temporary solution, Madani was permitted to travel to Kerala up until 8 July with Karnataka police protection and return in the same way. The bench set the matter for 10 July after clarifying that Madani would be responsible for paying for the escort that the Karnataka police would provide.
