In a shocking revelation, Hyderabad police have arrested a temple priest for the alleged murder of a woman with whom he was involved in an extramarital relationship. The incident, which unfolded nearly a week ago, came to light on Friday when authorities discovered that the accused priest had killed the woman, identified as Apsara, and dumped her body in a manhole.
The accused, identified as Venkata Sai Krishna, was already married and a father of two children. He had been engaged in an illicit relationship with Apsara, a resident of Saroornagar. According to police reports, Krishna devised a sinister plot to eliminate her as she had been pressuring him to marry her, which posed a threat to his existing marital life.
Krishna, who served as a priest at a temple in Saroornagar, executed the brutal act by killing Apsara in the Sultanpalli area and then disposing of her body in a manhole located in Saroornagar. Police investigations indicate that Krishna drove Apsara to Sultanpalli Shamshabad mandal on the outskirts of the city in his car. Subsequently, a heated argument erupted between them regarding Apsara’s insistence on marriage. In a fit of rage, the priest struck her head with a boulder, resulting in her immediate death. He then concealed her body in a bag, transported it back to Saroornagar, and callously discarded it in a manhole.
To deflect suspicion, the accused filed a missing person complaint with the Shamshabad police, claiming that Apsara, who happened to be a relative, had gone missing since June 3. Unbeknownst to him, this step would lead to his own exposure as the perpetrator of the heinous crime.
Upon launching an investigation, the police reviewed CCTV footage and analyzed mobile signals related to Krishna’s activities. To their astonishment, the evidence conclusively revealed that the complainant himself was the cold-blooded murderer. Authorities swiftly arrested Krishna and charged him with the murder of Apsara.
