Hindu organizations in Tamil Nadu have slammed the Madurai bench verdict of Chennai High Court’s verdict saying all ‘believers’ can enter temples. Hindu organizations are preparing to appeal in the Madras High Court against the verdict in the petition filed by the Hindu Munnani in Tamil Nadu demanding that non-Hindus be prevented from entering temples.
The verdict was pronounced on the plea to prevent Tamil Nadu’s IT minister Mano Thangaraj who is a Christian from entering Thiruvatar Adikesava temple in Kanyakumari district during the Mahakumbabhishekam. The plea was submitted by Hindu Munnani state leader C Soman
Earlier, Hindu organizations had tried to prevent Mano Thangaraj from participating in the Rathotsavam at Velimala Kumara Kovil held a month ago. The chariot race in which the minister participated was held under heavy police guard. The Kumbhabhishekam of Tiruvattar temple was held on the 6th of June. B
During a public ceremony like Kumbhabhishekam, the authorities cannot check the religious affiliation of the participants and allow them to pass. If a person of another religion feels worship for a particular Hindu deity, it cannot be rejected, the verdict said. According to reports, various Hindu organisations are planning to intensify their protests against the court order.
