Chinta Jerome, the President of the Youth Commission, has come up with a strange explanation for staying at a four-star hotel in Kollam while attending to his mother’s health. She explained that he temporarily stayed at the hotel due to the lack of an attached bathroom at his own home, which was undergoing renovations.
The rent, which was 20,000 rupees, was paid using a combination of his mother’s pension and his salary. Chinta stated that his mother’s health treatment was given priority and he regretted having to reveal personal information.
The Youth Congress has accused Chinta of staying in a three-room apartment at the hotel for one and three-quarter years, with a daily rent of 8,500 rupees, totalling to around 38 lakh rupees. The Congress is demanding to know the source of Chinta’s funds and has filed a complaint with the Vigilance and Enforcement Directorate through its State Secretary, Vishnu Sunil Pandalam.
