In a survey conducted among the victims of drugs under 21 years of age in Kerala, it has been found that 40 percent of them are under 18 years of age. Most of them are girls, according to the report. According to the police report released by PTI, the drug mafia also uses these people as carriers.
Police conducted raids in 18,301 places near schools in the state in order to make school premises drug-free. Following this, the police registered 401 cases. Police arrested 462 accused in the raid. Police recovered 20.97 kg of ganja, 186.38 grams of MDMA and 1122.1 grams of hashish.
“Earlier cases related to drug use were reported in colleges. But now the drug mafia is working in schools. Most of the children involved are girls,’ says ADGP MR Ajith Kumar, who is also the nodal officer of the state government’s anti-drug campaign.
Some women also work for the drug mafia to lure girls into drug rackets. After pretending to be friends with girls, these women force them to use drugs. Often the boys are taken advantage of and their girlfriends lured into the drug trap,” says DGP MR Ajith Kumar.
