Amidst the Kerala government’s move to slap the repercussions of financial mismanagement upon common men, a CAG report has revealed that revenue dues since last 5 years worth 7,100.32 crores has not been collected by the state. The CAG report also says that the government should intervene to collect the dues.
A total amount of 7,100.32 crores due includes that of the Excise Department since 1952. 21797.86 crore which is 22.33 percent of the total revenue income of the state. Out of the total arrears, 6422.49 crores remain to be collected from the government and local government bodies.
The report says that dues are not properly reported to the Revenue Department. The concerned departments are not trying to collect dues. No further action has been taken in the case of Rs 1,905 crore sent to the government for a write-off.
In the CAG report, it has also been requested to prepare a data bank of outstanding dues in various departments and take steps to recover them.
