In a new controversy, the colour of paint of an anganwadi in Kerala has irritated communists. Following the complaints from CPM workers who are ‘allergic’ to saffron, the minister herself has intervened in the issues, said a report.
Edakode anganwadi of Pallichal grama panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram got a new paint on February 14. The ward representative Kavitha says that she managed to get sponsors for the painting work as the panchayat did not have enough funds. Sponsors suggested three colours and agreed on saffron as it is attractive for the kids, she said. Drawing works on the walls are pending, Kavitha added.
As per reports, the panchayat president T Mallika said that the building will soon have a new colour.
Women & Child Development Minister Veena George instructed the authorities to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the state. Strict action must be taken against the perpetrators as such moves cause communal disharmony, she said.
