Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday responded to the controversy surrounding the denial of permission to Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi’s helicopter. The Prime Minister shared an incident where his helicopter was blocked by the previous UPA government for Rahul Gandhi. The incident took place in 2014 during an election campaign in Amritsar. ‘My helicopter was stopped in Punjab that day as the crown prince was flying to Amritsar.’ , said PM.
‘I was the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate then. I was traveling from Pathankot to Himachal for the election campaign. But I was not allowed to go Amritsar because the price was there. He was only an MP in the Congress then. There is a culture within the Congress that does not allow the opposition to function. ‘ Modi said.
He also accused the Congress of insulting former chief minister Amarinder Singh. He said the Congress was suffering for past wrongdoings. Although PM planned Punjab visit on January, he had to return because of farmers’ protest. Farmers are protesting in many parts of the state during the Prime Minister’s visit.
