According to NDRF, about 17,500 people were rescued till now from the flood-affected areas of Assam. Of these, 900 were rescued on Thursday, a spokesperson said.
The official said a total of 26 NDRF teams are operating in 14 flood-affected districts of the state and they are working in coordination with state authorities.
As the state hit a major flood, NDRF teams started rescue and relief operations started on June 16 in Assam and so far nine precious lives have been rescued while about 17,500 persons have been taken out from the worst-hit places.
The federal force is also helping local administration in the distribution of relief material, he said.
