In a fortunate turn of events, a major train accident was averted in Bhadrak district thanks to the presence of mind and quick action of a railway staffer. The incident comes at a time when the memory of the tragic triple train crash during Black Friday in Bahanaga, Balasore district is still fresh in people’s minds.
The potential mishap occurred at Manjuri Road station under the Bhandaripokhari police limits. A boulder had become lodged in the middle of the interlock, posing a serious threat of derailing a train. The situation had the potential to result in a catastrophic accident, but due to the vigilance of a railway staffer, disaster was averted.
Upon noticing the boulder, the railway staffer promptly alerted the concerned officials, who acted swiftly to remove the obstruction. The timely intervention ensured the safe passage of trains through the station. The station manager has filed a complaint with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), which has initiated an investigation into the incident.
