Kerala Police have arrested Malayinkeezhu native Santhosh in connection with the break-in attempts at a house at Kuravankonam last week. Santhosh is the driver of Minister Roshy Augustine’s personal staff. Police are also under the conclusion that Santhosh is the one who attacked a woman doctor near the museum compound. Police came to the conclusion that both the accused are the same person after a careful examination of CCTV footage. Police said that the accused had recently undergone a haircut to change his looks so as to avoid getting caught.
According to police, the accused arrived in a vehicle carrying a government board. The breakthrough came on the seventh day since the attack. The female doctor was attacked by an unknown person last Wednesday morning. When the investigation of the case started, police were under the impression that the accused in both cases are not the same person. At the same time, police have not obtained any other proof to show that the accused in both cases is the same person. Initially, the police had claimed that the physical features of the accused in both cases were different.
Police are also checking his mobile phone records. Police have not been able to find the vehicle number of the car used by the accused as the visuals obtained from the CCTV cameras of the police and motor vehicles department are not clear. This is the main challenge facing the probe team. The cyber division is also conducting an examination focusing on the mobile phones used near the crime scene.
