In a major setback to KSITIL (Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has informed state government that they cannot refund Rs 19 lakh given as salary to Swapna Suresh.
Following the gold smuggling case, it was decided to dismiss Swapna Suresh from her job in Space Park and recover the amount paid to her as salary.
But the company now informed that they cannot refund the amount paid as salary. Earlier, the state government also barred PwC from participating in any future project for two years as a result of the case.
Earlier, KSITIL sent a letter to PricewaterhouseCoopers demanding a refund of the amount paid as salary. KSITIL has now sought legal advice after being informed that it could not be refunded.
Government has decided to cancel the remaining pay of around Rs 1 crore to PWC as part of the Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON) project.
