In a shocking turn of events, the wife of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) in Kerala has been apprehended in connection with multiple cases of cheating and extorting money from numerous individuals. Nusrath (36), wife of Thrissur Cooperative Vigilance DYSP K.A. Sureshbabu, was arrested by a team led by Malappuram CI Jobi Thomas. The arrest took place at the DYSP’s residence in Cherp, Kerala.
The arrest of Nusrath comes in the wake of nine cases registered against her across multiple districts, including Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Kollam. The initial arrest was made based on a complaint filed by a woman from Malappuram, alleging that she was defrauded of Rs 4,85,000 under the pretext of a job offer. Following her arrest, Nusrath was produced before the court and subsequently remanded.
All the cases involving Nusrath revolve around acts of financial fraud. Among the charges leveled against her are embezzlement of money by offering railway job placements, impersonating a lawyer to deceive and defraud an attorney, and exploiting her status as a police officer’s wife to extort money as a middleman. Additionally, there is also a complaint of gold theft against her.
The victims who lost their money organized a press conference to shed light on their ordeal. They have accused the police officer’s wife of attempting to manipulate the cases using her husband’s influence. Despite being approached by the Malappuram police, Nusrath allegedly refused to settle the cases or cooperate with the investigations.
