A Malappuram school teacher, who is also a CPM councillor, was caught in a #MeToo allegation in Kerala following his former students coming up with complaints about their teacher. As per reports, KV Sasikumar, who retired from service recently, has sexually harassed a number of students during his 30 years of service.

The incident came to light when Sasikumar wrote about his teaching career on Facebook. An alumnus commented below this post that she was sexually harassed by a teacher. The allegation went viral on social media. Following this, some alumni lodged a complaint with the police. The complaint was that Sasikumar was sexually assaulted while he was a teacher.

“For the past 30 years, he has been sexually abusing girls between the ages of 9 and 16 at school and touching and penetrating students’ genitals. Many of us have fallen victim to this. However, the school authorities did not take any action against KV Sasikumar, despite several complaints from his parents.

It is a fact that there are complaints lodged even in 2019 and complaints received up to the Ethics Committee. Many of the students at that age were unable to respond and often had to endure the violence silently. The children had been suffering from severe mental distress for a long time due to the violence.  Students didn’t go head with complaints fearing a bad name in the society.”

Following the incident, KV Sasikumar has resigned from the Malappuram Municipality and CPIM in a bid to save their face has suspended him from the party too. However, those who know CPIM well, know that the man will come back with higher positions in the party soon after influencing complainants.
