The state-funded family foreign trip of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been extended. Earlier, he was scheduled to return on October 12 after visiting Norway and Britain. But as per the new decision, he will only return on the 15th after visiting the UAE.
The Chief Minister, who was to visit Cardiff in Wales yesterday, cancelled the trip at the last minute. This was to avoid hours-long journey by road.
The Chief Minister went to Europe on October 4. He was accompanied by ministers P Rajeev and V Abdurahiman. The first visit was to Norway. The Chief Minister met with the Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy. An agreement was reached to form a maritime cluster in Kerala and implement new projects. It has also been decided to hold an investor meeting of Norwegian companies in January.
Other ministers, NORKA resident vice-chairman P Sreeramakrishnan and other representatives and chief secretaries will return to the country on October 12. A team comprising Industry Minister P Rajeev, Health Minister Veena George, Chief Secretary VP Joy and OSD Venu Rajamani held talks with Welsh Health Minister Eluned Morgan and Welsh NHS Chief Nursing Officer Sue Tranka.
Shibu Raman, an architect lecturer at Cardiff University, has submitted a detailed study report to the government on the comprehensive development of Kochi city. Shibu Raman is also preparing a report related to the development of Kozhikode city.
