Fresh controversy has erupted after a road in Karnataka’s Karkala was named after Nathuram Godse, the man who shot Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, reports Udayavani.
According to reports, the road that is quite close to the Bola Gram Panchayat office, has a board naming it “Padugiri Nathuram Godse Road” written in Kannada Script. The pictures of the road name board have gone viral on social media, inviting sharp criticism.
However, the local authorities have said they have no role in naming the road so. Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar V clarified that the name board has been installed by an unknown private party. He further said that the gram panchayat will investigate the matter.
Soon after the controversy erupted, the board has been removed.
