On Thursday, the police removed a banner at the VHP-Bajrang Dal-organized Kadri Sri Manjunath temple fair that stated that Muslim merchants were not permitted to conduct business there.
From January 15 to January 21, the temple will host its annual fair. On Thursday, the banner was discovered attached to a road barricade near the entrance.
Activists said that the banner was placed in the background of the recent cooker bomb explosion in Mangaluru. This fair prohibits traders with such mentalities, they said.
In addition, it demanded that the fair be open to “only Hindu merchants who have faith in the practice and faith of Sanatan Dharma.”
The religious endowment department manages the temple, so the management board hasn’t approved this banner’s installation. In order to maintain order, the police cleared the banner.
