Congress’ DK Shivakumar was caught on camera raining Rs 500 notes on people during a roadshow in Bevinahalli, Mandya district, in the poll-bound state of Karnataka. The incident took place during the ‘Praja Dhwani Yatra’, as Shivakumar campaigned in the run-up to the assembly elections.
In the viral video, the Karnataka Congress chief is seen tossing the notes from the rooftop of a bus to a group of artists who had gathered during his yatra in Srirangapatna. The video has since been widely shared on social media.

The Election Commission took notice of the incident during their press conference, where they announced the dates for the elections in Karnataka. The Commission has said that it is examining the incident, and appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found.
The Congress party has not yet commented on the incident. The assembly elections in Karnataka are set to take place in May 2023, and the incident is likely to become a major talking point in the run-up to the polls.
