While violent incidents continue being reported from various parts of Karnataka, Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar issued orders on Sunday, February 13, imposing prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 around schools and colleges under the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate limits.
As per the order, section 144 will be in operation around 200 meters of educational institutions from 6 AM on February 14 till 6 PM on February 19.
Meanwhile, Shivamogga District’s Deputy Commissioner Dr. Selvamani R, on Sunday, also imposed prohibitory orders all around schools and high schools and colleges as a precautionary measure following the ongoing hijab – saffron shawl controversy.
Section 144 will be in effect from February 13, 10 pm to February 14, 10 pm and will be in operation around 200 meters surrounding all the high schools.
As per the section, any activity that disturbs an individual’s personal faith or religion is prohibited. All sorts of gatherings including protests, rallies, or protests are banned. Carrying sticks, clubs, knives, or machetes and such articles that constitute lethal weapons is prohibited. Inciting slogans, songs, speeches are strictly barred.
