A former driver, Prashant Babu, has leveled serious corruption allegations against K. Sudhakaran, the President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Babu has accused Sudhakaran of engaging in corrupt practices since his tenure as Forest Minister in AK Antony’s cabinet. In response to these allegations, Babu has filed a complaint with the vigilance department, prompting a preliminary investigation into the matter.
According to Prashant Babu, Sudhakaran was financially vulnerable before assuming the position of Forest Minister, but allegedly engaged in continuous acts of corruption thereafter. Babu claims to have brought several instances of corruption to the attention of then Chief Minister AK Antony. In June 2021, Prashant Babu filed a complaint with the vigilance department, alleging a major scam related to the acquisition of Rajas School, in which Sudhakaran purportedly accepted money from various individuals.
In response to Babu’s complaint, the Kozhikode vigilance unit has registered a case and initiated a preliminary inquiry into Sudhakaran’s sources of income. The vigilance department has issued a notice to the school principal, requesting detailed salary information of Sudhakaran’s wife, who worked as a teacher at the institution. The notice seeks comprehensive salary records and other related benefits from 2001 onwards.
The allegations made by Prashant Babu have prompted the vigilance department to delve into the claims of corruption surrounding K. Sudhakaran. The preliminary investigation will aim to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and gather substantial evidence to support or refute the claims made against the KPCC president.
