Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the entire police force has to face humiliation due to the behaviour of some officers. He said that such isolated incidents are being seriously observed by society and the force should not express discomfort with criticism.
“There is no need to protect anyone who commits a mistake, it is not the government’s policy to stop anyone’s livelihood, but one cannot accept the mistake and move on,” CM added.
He said that if the mistake is made by a male or female cop, no compromise can be shown. “If such officers continue in the force, it will affect the reputation of the police department”, said CM.
There has been a lot of criticism against the Kerala Police in several cases including Kilikollur incident. Even when there were allegations that the chief minister who is in charge of the home department should resign, he did not completely reject the police force.
