After Lal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, Anurag Kashyap’s latest film Dobaaraa, which is an inferior remake of the Spanish film ‘Mirage’ is likely to meet the same fate as the early industry trends show. Adding to the woes of Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu, who does the lead role, the reviews have also not gone favourable. Many critics are not very happy with the movie as according to them the film has failed to live up to the expectations.
Although Kashyap and Pannu were putting up a brave front in the face of boycott calls, the distributors and cineplexes are worried about the hostile audience response. Pannu, meanwhile, had said the boycott calls have become a “joke” that undermined the intelligence of the viewers.
But a section of the viewers is adamant about making the boycott call to its logical conclusion. What annoyed them was the arrogant attitude of the director Kashyap and Pannu who not only came down heavily on critics but made fun of them. Their arrogant attitude has not gone down well with the people.
“If something like this (boycott calls and trolling) happens on a daily basis, one ceases to be bothered anymore. It becomes useless. There is a dialogue to this effect in one of my films,” Pannu said during a press conference here on Thursday.
“I cannot talk about others in the industry, but for me and Anurag, it has become a joke,” she added.
His film’s rejection by the audience has saddened Aamir Khan. Hindus were upset with Aamir for making fun of their gods and goddesses. Reportedly, distributors of the film had approached Aamir to compensate for their losses.
